The Presidential Inauguration

President Obama was sworn in on January 20th, 2009 at 12:05 PM in Washington DC. Chinese astrological calculations show a picture of reform. In spite of challenges the new Administration will succeed in its aims. For quite some time, however, the new Administration will be largely occupied in winding down and sorting out the mess it has inherited. While drastic steps will be taken, real progress and change cannot be made too swiftly. The energy of the present time, the time in which the new Administration is beginning its work, is contracting, not expanding. This means that the situation will take time to turn around. Creative planning is being called for. Creative planning is vital for the present administration to succeed. The Administration will gain strength through its term. The time, as denoted by the Chinese chart, calls for an independent leader, one who carefully weighs all sides, and, when he makes up his mind, acts forcefully.

Overall, the dynamics of the Chinese chart show a probable trend toward repolarization of wealth, moving from high to low. This means the poor will ultimately benefit while the getting there will be hard. The Government will be seeking out new and alternative solutions. But while there will is increasing interest in innovation, the Government's efforts will exceed expected returns. Financial resources being unstable it will take considerable time to turn the situation around. The Chinese chart does show increasing resourcefulness and storing up of money after the first year.

The second and third years will be very dynamic. The fourth year shows hidden danger coming up. It is not possible from the Chinese chart to say for whom, but it may not necessarily be for the President. It could just as well point to people in his Administration. All through his Presidency, Obama will have challenges. It will be an exciting time. While the President does have enemies he appears to have protection.

Obama's hopes of unifying everyone, reaching across the aisle, will not work so well. Divisive factions will come to challenge him especially toward mid-term. Mid-term may bring up some radical choices. The President will receive assistance from key people right from the start and throughout the four years of his first term. He has the genius, or luck of turning adverse situations in to favorable ones. He glows with vitality and vigorously carries things through. He has great social skills and easily attracts others. His gift of attracting others works for and against him. There is the danger of becoming entangled in the snares of his political enemies. President Obama's alliances will not always be trustworthy. Notwithstanding, he is a clever politician. While president Obama has a positive interest in education, education may not enjoy the attention it needs and deserves.

The Western astrological chart for the inauguration has Mercury retrograde and combust the Sun showing Justice Roberts having what appeared to be a senior moment , flubbing his administering of the oath of office. Some people have the opinion that the inauguration was made invalid becuase of this flub, and that the chart is wrong. According to the 22nd amendment of the constitution, however, the inauguration was valid and this chart reading, therefore, is correct. Now, there was a second oath of office given to President Obama on January 21st, 2009 at 07:35 PM at the White House. A brief analysis of it follows this report, but it doesn't hold water; the inauguration of 1/20 is universally recognized as the official inauguration.

The chart of the inauguration on January 20th, 2009 at 12:05 PM places the Moon at 29 degrees Scorpio in the 7th house. This means The Nation will have something to weep about. We can look forward to an ominous turning point affecting the Government tied to untoward complications in foreign affairs involving international disputes and wars. While the chart also points to notable deaths of Senators and other outstanding people in high circles of the Government, it does not point to the death of the President. The inauguration Sun, favorably aspected, talls us that The President has great popularity. The highest branches of the Government will be able to flourish and exercise power under him. The Sun conjunct Jupiter in the 10th house indicates that The President will be fortunate. He has the ability to build up something of lasting value. But the Sun in Aquarius is in detriment and Jupiter in Aquarius is peregrine, meaning the the Sun, i.e., The President, however, is not as strong as one might wish. He will be vexed. In other words, the President does not find himself in the best of circumstances. He has huge problems to deal with. The Sun mutual reception Saturn retrograde in the 5th house shines in the 4th house of the land itself. This means that The President will be turning his attention seriously to ecological and agricultural issues as well as to housing and the real estate crisis. Saturn is retrograde and opposite Uranus and Venus in the 11th house. In addition to confirming that death comes to more than one senator, or member of the house, Saturn indicates that Trouble to children involving poverty and crime, illness coming from afar, rising mortality rate, increasing crimes against women, crooks in the financial markets, international criminals connected to drugs, in other words, vice and immorality rooted in the past, will also concern the new Administration. Mercury retrograde and combust Sun in the 10th house denotes There will be much activity in Government circles involving many difficulties in the banking and labor departments, also disgrace to public officials and people in high places, and scandals connected to finances, banking and labor. Mercury retrograde in the 10th house also says The Administration's aims will likely be vexed by shifting conditions necessitating changes of mind  related to complex financial issues. The Administration's financial and social plans will vexed, fall through or be postponed or delayed to the discomfort of the strapped and expectant public. In other words, some hoped for, and important social and economic reforms will be postponed to the disappointment of President Obama's supporters in the general population. Venus exalted in Pisces in the 11th house conjunct Uranus says The people have high hopes. Venus and Uranus opposite Saturn tells us, However, the people need to be realistic lest they be disappointed. Venus, coming to conjunction Uranus, then to opposition Saturn times interesting developments for the nation. Accordingly, In two years when Venus progresses to conjunction Uranus, and Uranus is directed to opposition Saturn, radical developments will likely happen in, or will affect, the congress. There will be dramatic developments and a likely upset at that time. And in four years when Venus progresses to opposition Saturn there will be a loss. The inauguration Moon at 29 degrees Scorpio is applying to exact opposition the Part of Death at 29 degrees Taurus in the 1st house. This will surely bring weeping to the nation. Venus is the ruler of the 1st house. She progresses to opposition Saturn in four years when the Part of Death is directed to exact trine Jupiter, the ruler of the 8th house, the house-of-death. There is something tragic in this chart that will affect the nation. Other charts over the years will reveal what this means. Mars in the 9th house of the inauguration chart says We can expect religious and legal disputes to come up. This Administration aims to take bold new directions in technology. Advances in medical science will attract dissention from fundamentalist religious figures. The new Administration will encourage innovation and invention, nonetheless. Technology is highly favored and will be an area for positive international cooperation. Mars is exalted in Capricorn in the 9th house, meaning that Where legal fights come up the Government will win. Mars is the ruler of the 12th house and is trine Saturn retrograde in the 5th house. This points to building. Projects that were put aside in the past will come up in the future. The new Administration will be working very hard. Actual building may include institutions such as hospitals, schools, and public works, especially roads, bridges and possibly levies. There is also a call to improve interstate and international commerce and shipping. Saturn and Uranus are the dispositors of the Sun. They affect the success or failure of the presidency. In opposition, Uranus and Saturn tell of Vexing conditions that will try the patience of the President will come up especially during periods when Saturn and Uranus come into exact opposition with one another this year: 1/30/09 - 2/10/09 and 9/9/09 - 9/17/09. When Saturn enters Libra After the end of October, 2009, the power of the Presidency will be considerably strengthened. The economy should begin to show some signs of improvement in the Fall of 2009 as well. Whatever the tensions between Uranus and Saturn, which, by the way are playing havoc with the Dow Jones, The President and his Administration are very able get around whatever problems they encounter. It needs to be this way to navigate the dangerous waters it finds itself in. The opposition of Uranus and Saturn is mitigated by Mars in Capricorn in the 9th house; this shows that The Administration will find a green light in the direction of science and technology. Technological advances will open the way to greater prosperity in the future. Mars in the 9th house also points to a very active and aggressive news media. The media will be grasping for power and stirring up a hornet's nest.

People I know express worried concern about the safety of the President. Viewed from the inauguration chart there may be cause for concern, but the chart doesn't say the Prsident is in direct danger. And, again, we will need to make more charts in the future for unfolding conditions to ascertain where, when and for whom danger lurks. The inauguration chart says that it is unlikely that the President will be harmed in spite of what dangers there are. The inauguration chart shows by Saturn in the 5th house (the death-8th after the 10th) that there is some danger to someone or people in the highest circles of the Government. But because Saturn is retrograde and in mutual reception, The danger appears to be to someone close to the President. However, in this inauguration chart the Part of Asassination (calculated by the Asc. plus the ruler of the 12th house minus Neptune) is exactly conjunct the Ascendent, meaning that It is possible, from the look of this chart, that an asassination, or act of terrorism, will well affect the nation. Directed, the Part of Asassination comes to sextile Venus in the 11th house in two years, trine Mars in the 9th house in three years, and sextile Uranus in the 11th house in four years. But again, it has to be confirmed by other charts along the course of time to be predicted with certainty. The anauguration chart at least points to turbulence and danger through the coming four years. Wisdom tells us to be watchful. The interesting aspect formed by the Part of Asassination is the sextile to Uranus in four years. Simultaneously to the Part of Asassination sextile Uranus in the 11th house in four years the Part of Death is directed to trine Jupiter in the 10th house and Venus is progressed to opposition Saturn in the 5th house. The opposition Venus and Saturn points to a loss. The 5th house signifies There is a death coming to high circles of the Government. The Part of Death trine Jupiter, the ruler of the 8th house-of-death while Jupiter is in the 10th house signifies the death of someone in the highest circle. The Part of Asassination sextile Uranus may point out where this happens. Uranus is in the 11th house, is the ruler of the 11th house, and is the dispositor of the Sun in Aquarius. The 11th house signifies It may be for someone in the Congress, the Senate, the Cabinet, or even the Vice-President. Nothing conclusive can or should be said now. The chart, however, shows trouble. Seen from another angle, the Sun, which signifies the President, is conjunct Jupiter in the 10th house. Ordinarily Jupiter in the 10th house is a sign of great protection. Conjunct the Sun, Jupiter physically protects the President. Because Jupiter rules the 8th house-of-death, it brings death close to the President. Therefore, if not the president, It may be someone close to the President that we need have concern about. Time and future charting will tell. A lot of dissention and turmoil will develop over the Administrations economic and social policies due to the difficulties so many people are in. These are turbulent times, indeed. Venus conjunct Uranus in the 11th house opposite Saturn in the 5th says Rebels and rabble-rousers may rise up to stir up riots, strikes, and destruction of property. There are hostile forces to be taken very seriously. Uranus in the 11th house opposite Saturn thinks he means well and confuses liberty with licence, and acts without authority. 

The chart of the second oath of office, given on January 21st at 7:35 PM at the White House casts a dark shadow over the Presidency. It is very negative. I wrote an extensive report about it, but decided to delete it because of its negativity. On second thought, it is reasonable to conclude that because there was a second oath of office given, it merits being taken into consideration in astrology. Without going into its disturbing details, the chart of the second oath of office adds weight to the negative indications of the inauguration chart; it shows the enormity of the problems that weigh on the Obama Administration and warns that President Obama may end up considerably less popular.
